The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, with the support of Dow AgroSciences LLC, invites you to visit the Biotechnology Learning Center (BLC) located on the fourth floor in ScienceWorks. The BLC staff offer public programming demonstrations at specified times, in addition to displaying the exciting science of plant biotechnology in an informal and dynamic setting.

Come join us in an environment where knowledge can be cultivated, lifetime learning is produced, and scientific interest will grow!

Biotechnology LabAt The Children's Museum, we believe that biotechnology is the process by which humans use living things as tools to create new products. Using biotechnology is so fascinating because we can change the world in many ways - by cleaning up oil spills, keeping bugs away from certain crops, and creating fruits and vegetables with more vitamins.

The center focuses on educating students and their families on the science of plant biotechnology. This classroom space is dedicated to teaching upper elementary and middle school youth and their families about the history of biotechnology, the science behind it and how our foods and plants will be affected by this growing science. Located on Level 4, the Biotechnology Learning Center in the DOW ScienceWorks Gallery, includes 1500 square feet of lab space suited for school and family activities and demonstrations. The goal of this new facility is to help the general public become aware of the relevance of biotechnology in our world today. Opportunities for workshops, classes, distance links and institutes will be available for teachers and students to help them gain knowledge and understanding of this difficult and changing field and its role in their lives.
